hindu dharm mein; sadgruhasth ki, parivaar nirmaan ki jimmedaari uthaane ke yogya shaareerik, maanasik paripkvata aa jaane par yuvak-yuvatiyon ka vivaah sanskaar karaaya jaata hai. bhaarateeya sanskruti ke anusaar vivaah koi shaareerik ya saamaajik anubandh maatr naheen hain, yahaaain daampatya ko ek shreshth aadhyaatmik saadhana ka bhi roop diya gaya hai. isliye kaha gaya hai 'dhanyo gruhasthaashram:'. sadgruhasth hi samaaj ko anukool vyavastha evam vikaas mein sahaayak hone ke saath shreshth nai peedhi banaane ka bhi kaarya karte hain. vaheen apne sansaadhanon se brahmacharya, vaanaprasth evam sanyaas aashramon ke saadhakon ko vaanyahit sahayog dete rahate hain. aise sadgruhasth banaane ke liye vivaah ko roodhiyon-kureetiyon se mukt karaakar shreshth sanskaar ke roop mein pun: pratishthit karna aavashk hai. yug nirmaan ke antargat vivaah sanskaar ke paarivaarik evam saamoohik prayog safal aur upayogi siddh hue hain.

sanskaar prayojan

vivaah do aatmaaon ka pavitra bandhan hai. do praani apne alag-alag astitvon ko samaapt kar ek sammilit ikaai ka nirmaan karte hain. stri aur purush donon mein paramaatma ne kuchh visheshataaeain aur kuchh apoonartaaeain de rakhi hain. vivaah sammiln se ek-doosare ki apoornataaon ki apni visheshataaon se poorn karte hain, isse samagr vyaktitv ka nirmaan hota hai. isliye vivaah ko saamaanyataya maanav jeevan ki ek aavashyakta maana gaya hai. ek-doosare ko apni yogyataaon aur bhaavanaaon ka laabh pahuainchaate hue gaadi mein lage hue do pahiyon ki tarah pragati-path par agrasar hote jaana vivaah ka uddeshya hai. vaasana ka daampatya-jeevan mein atyant tuchh aur gaun sthaan hai, pradhaanat: do aatmaaon ke milne se utpann hone waali us mahati shakti ka nimaarn karna hai, jo donon ke laukik evam aadhyaatmik jeevan ke vikaas mein sahaayak siddh ho sake.

vivaah ka svaroop

vishesh vyavastha

dhruv-soorya dhyaan

vivaah ke prakaar

1. brahm vivaah

dono paksh ki sahamati se samaan varg ke suyojnya var se kanya ka vivaah nishchit kar dena 'brahm vivaah' kahalaata hai. saamaanyat: is vivaah ke baad kanya ko aabhooshanayukt karke vida kiya jaata hai. aaj ka "vyavastha vivaah" 'brahm vivaah' ka hi roop hai.

2. daiv vivaah

kisi seva kaarya (visheshat: dhaarmik anushtaan) ke moolya ke roop apni kanya ko daan mein de dena 'daiv vivaah' kahalaata hai.

3. aarsh vivaah

kanya-paksh vaalon ko kanya ka moolya de kar (saamaanyat: gaudaan karke) kanya se vivaah kar lena 'arsh vivaah' kahalaata hai.

4. prajaapatya vivaah

kanya ki sahamati ke bina usaka vivaah abhijaatya varg ke var se kar dena 'prajaapatya vivaah' kahalaata hai.

5. gandharv vivaah

parivaar vaalon ki sahamati ke bina var aur kanya ka bina kisi reeti-rivaaj ke aapas mein vivaah kar lena 'gandharv vivaah' kahalaata hai. dushyant ne shakuntala se 'gandharv vivaah' kiya tha. unke putr bharat ke naam se hi hamaare desh ka naam "bhaaratavarsh" bana.

6. asur vivaah

kanya ko khareed kar (aarthik roop se) vivaah kar lena 'asur vivaah' kahalaata hai.

7. raakshas vivaah

kanya ki sahamati ke bina usaka apaharan karke jabaradasti vivaah kar lena 'raakshas vivaah' kahalaata hai.

8. paishaach vivaah

kanya ki madahoshi (gahan nidra, maanasik durbalata aadi) ka laabh utha kar usase shaareerik sambandh bana lena aur usase vivaah karna 'paishaach vivaah' kahalaata hai.
