somvaar ko padne waali amaavasya ko somavati amaavasya kehte hain. ye varsh mein lagbhag ek athva do hi baar padti hai. is amaavasya ka hindu dharm mein vishesh mahattv hota hai. vivaahit striyon dvaara is din apne patiyon ke deerghaayu kaamna ke liye vrat ka vidhaan hai. is din maun vrat rahane se sahasr godaan ka fal milta hai.[1] shaastron mein ise ashvatth pradakshina vrat ki bhi sanjnyaa di gayi hai. ashvatth yaani peepal vruksh.[2] is din vivaahit striyon dvaara peepal ke vruksh ki doodh, jal, pushp, akshat, chandan ityaadi se pooja aur vruksh ke chaaron or 108 baar dhaaga lapet kar parikrama karne ka vidhaan hota hai.[3] aur kuchh anya paramparaaon mein bhainvari dene ka bhi vidhaan hota hai. dhaan, paan aur khadi haldi ko mila kar use vidhaan poorvak tulasi ke ped ko chadhaaya jaata hai. is din pavitra nadiyon mein snaan ka bhi vishesh mahatva samjha jaata hai. kaha jaata hai ki mahaabhaarat mein bheeshm ne yudhishthir ko is din ka mahatva samajhaate hue kaha tha ki, is din pavitra nadiyon mein snaan karne wala manushya samruddh, svasthya aur sabhi dukhon se mukt hoga. aisa bhi maana jaata hai ki snaan karne se pitron ki aatmaaon ko shaanti milti hai.

somavati amaavasya se sambandhit anek kathaaeain prachalit hain. parampara hai ki somavati amaavasya ke din in kathaaon ko vidhipoorvak suna jaata hai.[3] ek gareeb brahman parivaar tha, jisme pati, patni ke alaava ek putri bhi thi. putri dheere dheere badi hone lagi. us ladki mein samay ke saath sabhi striyochit gunon ka vikaas ho raha tha. ladki sundar, sanskaaravaan evam gunavaan bhi thi, lekin gareeb hone ke kaaran usaka vivaah naheen ho pa raha tha. ek din brahman ke ghar ek saadhoo padhaare, jo ki kanya ke sevaabhaav se kaafi prasann hue. kanya ko lambi aayu ka aasheervaad dete hue saadhoo ne kaha ki kanya ke hatheli mein vivaah yogya rekha naheen hai. braahman dampati ne saadhoo se upaaya poochha ki kanya aisa kya kare ki uske haath mein vivaah yog ban jaae. saadhoo ne kuchh der vichaar karne ke baad apni antardrushti se dhyaan karke bataaya ki kuchh doori par ek gaaainv mein sona naam ki dhoobi jaati ki ek mahila apne bete aur bahoo ke saath rahati hai, jo ki bahut hi aachaar- vichaar aur sanskaar sampann tatha pati paraayan hai. yadi yeh kanya usaki seva kare aur vah mahila iski shaadi mein apne maang ka sindoor laga de, uske baad is kanya ka vivaah ho to is kanya ka vaidhavya yog mit sakta hai. saadhoo ne yeh bhi bataaya ki vah mahila kaheen aati jaati naheen hai. yeh baat sunakar brahmani ne apni beti se dhobin ki seva karne ki baat kahi.

kanya tadake hi uth kar sona dhobin ke ghar jaakar, safaai aur anya saare karke apne ghar vaapas aa jaati. sona dhobin apni bahoo se poochhati hai ki tum to tadake hi uthakar saare kaam kar leti ho aur pata bhi naheen chalta. bahoo ne kaha ki maaainji mainne to socha ki aap hi subah uthakar saare kaam khud hi khtam kar leti hain. main to der se uthati hooain. is par donon saas bahoo nigraani karne karne lagi ki kaun hai jo tadake hi ghar ka saara kaam karke chala jaata ha. kai dinon ke baad dhobin ne dekha ki ek ek kanya muainh andhere ghar mein aati hai aur saare kaam karne ke baad chali jaati hai. jab vah jaane lagi to sona dhobin uske pairon par gir padi, poochhane lagi ki aap kaun hai aur is tarah chhupakar mere ghar ki chaakari kyon karti hain. tab kanya ne saadhoo dbaara kahi gayi saadi baat bataai. sona dhobin pati paraayan thi, usamein tej tha. vah taiyaar ho gayi. sona dhobin ke pati thoda asvasth the. usame apni bahoo se apne laut aane tak ghar par hi rahane ko kaha. sona dhobin ne jaise hi apne maang ka sindoor kanya ki maang mein lagaaya, uske pati gaya. use is baat ka pata chal gaya. vah ghar se niraajal hi chali thi, yeh sochakar ki raaste mein kaheen peepal ka ped milega to use bhainvari dekar aur usaki parikrama karke hi jal grahan karegi.us din somavati amaavasya thi. brahman ke ghar mile pooe- pakavaan ki jagah usane int ke tukadon se 108 baar bhainvari dekar 108 baar peepal ke ped ki parikrama ki aur uske baad jal grahan kiya. aisa karte hi uske pati ke murda shareer mein kampan hone laga.

aisi parampara hai ki pehli somavati amaavasya ke din dhaan, paan, haldi, sindoor aur supaadi ki bhainvari di jaati hai.[3] uske baad ki somavati amaavasya ko apne saamarthya ke hisaab se fal, mithaai, suhaag saamagri, khaane ki saamagri ityaadi ki bhainvari di jaati hai. bhainvari par chadhaaya gaya saamaan kisi supaatr brahman, nanad ya bhaanje ko diya ja sakta hai. apne gotr ya apne se nimn gotr mein vah daan naheen dena chaahiye.
