"vish ko shankar Bhagwan ke dvaara paan kar lene ke pashchaat fir se samudra manthan praarambh hua. doosra ratn kaamadhenu gaaya nikli jise rishiyon ne rakh liya. fir uchchai:shrava ghoda nikla jise daityaraaj bali ne rakh liya. uske baad airaavat haathi nikla jise devaraaj indr ne grahan kiya. airaavat ke pashchaat kaustubhamani samudra se nikli use vishnu Bhagwan ne rakh liya. fir kalpadrum nikla aur rambha naamak apsara nikli. in donon ko devalok mein rakh liya gaya. aage fir samudr ko mathane se lakshmi ji nikleen. lakshmi ji ne swayam hi Bhagwan vishnu ko var liya. uske baad kanya ke roop mein vaaruni prakat hai jise daityon ne grahan kiya. fir ek ke pashchaat ek chandrama, paarijaat vruksh tatha shankh nikle aur ant mein dhanvantari vaidya amrut ka ghat lekar prakat huye." dhanvantari ke haath se amrut ko daityon ne chheen liya aur uske liye aapas mein hi ladne lage. devataaon ke paas durvaasa ke shaapavash itni shakti rahi naheen thi ki ve daityon se ladkar us amrut ko le sakein isaliye ve niraash khade huye unka aapas mein ladna dekhte rahe. devataaon ki niraasha ko dekhkar Bhagwan vishnu tatkaal mohini roop dhaaran kar aapas mein ladte daityon ke paas ja pahuainche. us vishvamohini roop ko dekhkar daitya tatha devataaon ki to baat hi kya, swayam brahmajnyaaani, kaamadev ko bhasm kar dene vaale, Bhagwan shankar bhi mohit hokar unki or baar-baar dekhne lage. jab daityon ne us navayauvana sundari ko apni or aate huye dekha tab ve apna saara jhagada bhool kar usi sundari ki or kaamaasakt hokar ekatak dekhne lage.

ve daitya bole, "he sundari! tum kaun ho? lagta hai ki hamaare jhagade ko dekhkar usaka nibtaara karne ke liye hi ham par krupa kataaksh kar rahi ho. aao shubhage! tumhaara svaagat hai. hamein apne sundar kar kamalon se yeh amrutapaan karaao." is par vishvamohini roopi vishnu ne kaha, "he devataaon aur daanavon! aap donon hi maharshi kashyap ji ke putr hone ke kaaran bhaai-bhaai ho fir bhi paraspar ladte ho. main to svechhaachaarini stri hooain. buddhimaan log aisi stri par kabhi vishvaas naheen karte, fir tum log kaise mujh par vishvaas kar rahe ho? achha yahi hai ki swayam sab mil kar amrutapaan kar lo."

vishvamohini ke aise neeti kushal vachan sun kar un kaamaandh daityo, daanavon aur asuron ko us par aur bhi vishvaas ho gaya. ve bole, "sundari! ham tum par poorn vishvaas hai. tum jis prakaar baaaintogi ham usi prakaar amrutapaan kar leinge. tum ye ghat le lo aur ham sabhi mein amrut vitran karo." vishvamohini ne amrut ghat lekar devataaon aur daityon ko alag-alag panktiyo mein baithane ke liye kaha. uske baad daityon ko apne kataaksh se madahosh karte huye devataaon ko amrutapaan karaane lage. daitya unke kataaksh se aise madahosh huye ki amrut peena hi bhool gaye.

Bhagwan ki is chaal ko raahu naamak daitya samajh gaya. vah devata ka roop bana kar devataaon mein jaakar baith gaya aur praapt amrut ko mukh mein daal liya. jab amrut uske kanth mein pahuainch gaya tab chandrama tatha soorya ne pukaar kar kaha ki ye raahu daitya hai. yeh sunakar Bhagwan vishnu ne tatkaal apne sudarshan chakr se usaka sir gardan se alag kar diya. amrut ke prabhaav se uske sir aur dhad raahu aur ketu naam ke do grah ban kar antariksh mein sthaapit ho gaye. ve hi bair bhaav ke kaaran soorya aur chandrama ka grahan karaate hain.

is tarah devataaon ko amrut pilaakar Bhagwan vishnu vahaaain se lop ho gaye. unke lop hote hi daityon ki madahoshi samaapt ho gayi. ve atyant krodhit ho devataaon par prahaar karne lage. bhayankar devaasur sangraam aarambh ho gaya jismein devaraaj indr ne daityaraaj baali ko paraast kar apna indralok vaapas le liya.
