saakhaalin ya sakhaalin (roosi: Сaaаaaхaaаaaлaaиaaн), jise Japani mein kaaraafuto (樺aa太) kehte hain, prashaant mahaasaagar ke uttari bhaag mein sthit ek bada dweep hai. yeh raajanaitik roop se roos ke saakhaalin oblaast (praant) ka hissa hai aur saaiberiya ilaake ke poorv mein padta hai. yeh Japan ke hokkaaido dweep ke uttar mein hai. 19vi aur 20vi sadi mein Japan aur roos ke beech is dweep ke niyantran par jhadapein hoti theen. is dweep par moolat: aainoo, orok aur nivkh janajaatiyaaain raha karti thi, lekin ab adhiktar roosi log rahate hain. san 1905-1945 ke kaal mein is dweep ke dakshini bhaag par Japan ka kbja tha.

saakhaalin ka kshetrafal 72,492 varg kimi hai, yaani lagbhag Bhaarat ke Jharkhand raajya ke baraabar.[1] yeh roos ka sabse bada dweep hai. iski janasankhya san 2005 mein 5,80,000 anumaanit ki gayi thi. iske do-tihaai hisse par pahaad faile hue hain. uttar-dakshin chalne waali do parvat shrunkhalaaeain hain, jinhein poorvi saakhaalin shrunkhala aur pashchimi saakhaalin shrunkhala kaha jaata hai. inke beech ki ghaati ko tim-poro naaisakaaya ghaati bulaaya jaata hai. uttari saakhaalin mein ek bada daladali maidaan bhi hai.

saakhaalin ka mausam kaafi thanda rahata hai. January mein -15.9° seinteegred aur July mein 16.1° seinteegred ausat taapamaan hain. sardiyon mein barfbaari bahut hoti hai.[2] poore dweep par bhurj aur cheed (paain) ke van faile hue hain.

saakhaalin ka prashaasakeeya kendra yujhno-saakhaalinsk (Юaáaaжaaнaaо-Сaaаaaхaaаaaлaaиaáaaнaaсaaк) naamak shahar hai.
