in uttari kshetron mein rahani waali bahut-si jaatiyon ke liye renadiyr ek bahut hi mahatvapoorn pashu hai. ve inka shikaar bhi karte hain aur kuchh jaatiyon ne (jaise ki roos ke eveinkon ne) to in ke paalan ko bhi apni samaaj vyavastha ka hissa banaaya hua hai. ve inka doodh peete hain, inka maans khaate hain, inki khaal ke kapde-joote pahanate hain aur inhein apni slejon (barf par fislakar chalne vaale vaahan) ko kheenchne ke liye prayog karte hain. bahut se aise samudaayon mein to renadiyron ka dhaarmik mahatva bhi hota hai.[1] renadiyr laaiken bhi khaate hain aur pedon ke patte bhi.

anya bhaashaaoain mein

angreji mein 'renadiyr' ko 'reindeer' aur 'kairiboo' ko 'caribou' likha jaata hai. America aur Canada mein 'kairiboo' naam prachalit hai, jabki baaki sthaanon par 'renadiyr'. roosi bhaasha mein 'renadiyr' ko 'saivairanyi oleni' (Сaaеaaвaaеaaрaaнaaыaaй оaaлaaеaaнaaь) yaani 'uttari hiran' kehte hain (ismein 'ऍ' ki maatra ke uchchaaran par dhyaan dein kyonki yeh 'A' aur 'ai' se jra bhinn hai).[2]
