oshiaaniya (jise kabhi kabhi oshiyaanika[1] bhi kaha jaata hai), ek bhaugolik kshetr hai jisme shaamil bhookhand jinmein se adhiktar dweep hain jo, prashaant mahaasaagar aur iske aas paas faile huye hain. "oshiaaniya" shabd ko 1831 mein fraanseesi anveshak dyoomaaaint the'urvil dvaara gadha gaya tha. aaj yeh shabd kai bhaashaaon mein Australia mahaadveep aur nikat ke prashaant dveepon ke liye prayog kiya jaata hai, yeh kshetr aath sthaleeya paaristhitik kshetron me se bhi ek hai.[2][3][4]

oshiaaniya ki seemaaon ko kai tareekon se paribhaashit kiya ja sakta hai. adhikaansh paribhaashaaeain Australia, New Zealand aur new gini aur malaya dveepasamooh ke sabhi bhaagon ya kuchh bhaag ko oshiaaniya bataati hain..[5][6][7]maanavajaati-vigyaan ke aadhaar par oshiaaniya mein shaamil dveepon ko melaaneshiya, maaikroneshiya aur poleeneshiya ke upakshetron mein vibhaajit kiya jaata hai.[8]
