nikal ek raasaayanik tatv hai jo raasaayanik roop se sankraman dhaatu samooh ka sadasya hai. yeh ek shvet-chaaaindi rang ki dhaatu hai jismein jra-si sunahari aabha bhi dikhti hai. yeh sakht aur tanya hota hai. haalaanki nikal ke bade tukadon par oksaaid ki parat ban jaati hai jis se andar ki dhaatu surakshit rahati hai, nikal vaise okseejan se teji se raasaayanik abhikriya (riyekshan) kar leta hai. is kaaranavash pruthvi ki satah par nikal shuddh roop mein naheen milta aur agar milta hai to iska srot antariksh se gire lauh ulka hote hain. vaigyaanik yeh maanate hain ki pruthvi ka krod nikal-lauh ke mishrit dhaatu ka bana hua hai.[1]

nikal hava mein upasthit okseejan se saath abhikriya karke apne oopar ek patali surakshaadaayini patali parat bana leta hai jis se andar ki dhaatu bachi rahati hai. is vajah se iska prayog lohe va anya dhaatuon par nikal ki parat chadhaakr unhein jng-lagne se bachaane ke liye kiya jaata hai. yeh ek lauhachumbakatv rakhane wala tatv hai aur is se bane chumbak udyog va anya prayogon mein istemaal hote hain. iske alaava nikal ko ispaat mein milaakar use 'stenales' (jng-rodhak) banaane ke kaam mein bhi laaya jaata hai.[2]
