mahaan andamaani athva great andamaani un janajaateeya logon ko saamoohik roop se kehte hain jo Bhaarat ke andamaan dveepasamooh ke mahaan andamaan dweep aur isse sate dveepon par nivaas karte hain.

kisi samay great andamaani logon ki andamaan dveepasamooh mein sabse adhik aabaadi thi. 1789 mein unki anumaanit janasankhya 10,000 thi. varsh 1901 mein inki sankhya ghatkar 625 ho gayi aur 1969 me inki sankhya ghatkar maatr 19 ho gayi. varsh 1971 ki janaganana ke anusaar maatr unki sankhya 24 thi lekin varsh 1999 mein unki sankhya badh kar 41 ho gayi. 2010 ke anumaanit aaainkadon ke anusaar inki sankhya 52 thi.[1]

prashaasan is janajaati ke sanrakshan aur parirkshan ke liye bharsak prayaas kar raha hai. is janajaati ko stret aailaind naam ke ek chhote se dweep mein basaaya gaya. great andamaani log moolat: ekatrak (gatherers) hua karte the. aajkal ve chaaval, daal, chapaati aur anya aadhunik khaadya saamagri bhi khaate hain. ve garm masaalon ka upayog karke khaana paka sakte hain. lekin ab bhi ve jaroorat padne par shikaar par ya jungle aur samudra tat se bhojan ekatrit karne jaate hain. unke paramparaagat bhojan mein machhali, dugaaaing, kachhuooa, kachhuooa ke ande, kekada kand mool shaamil hain. ve sukar andamaan ke samudra mein paae jaane vaale monitr (lijrd) chipkali aadi tateeya log hone ke kaaran ve vibhinn prakaar ke kekada aur machhali ke alaava oktopas, samudri jeev jaise tarban shail, skorpiyn shail sandiyl helmeint, tokas or skraya shail se nikaala gaya molases pansad karte hain. baad mein kuchh log sabjiyon ki kheti karne lage aur kukkut paalan firm ki bhi sthaapana keen. ve sharaab peene ki aadat ke alaava unhein gair-jan jaatiya, shahari, samudaaya ke sampark mein aane ke baad sankraamak rogon se grast hue hain.
