madar indiya (angreji: Mother India, urdoo: مaaدaaر اaaنaaڈaaیaaا) 1957 mein bani bhaarateeya film hai jise mahaboob Khan dvaara likha aur nirdeshit kiya gaya hai. film mein nargis, suneel datt, raajeindr Kumar aur raaj Kumar mukhya bhoomika mein hain. film mahaboob Khan dvaara nirmit aurat (1940) ka reemek hai. yeh gareebi se peedit gaaainv mein rahane waali aurat raadha ki kahaani hai jo kai mushkilon ka saamana karte hue apne bachchon ka paalan poshan karne aur bure jaageeradaar se bachane ki mehnat karti hai. usaki mehnat aur lagan ke baavajood vah ek devi-svaroop udaaharan pesh karti hai va bhaarateeya naari ki paribhaasha sthaapit karti hai aur fir bhi ant mein bhale ke liye apne gunde bete ko swayam maar deti hai. vah aajaadi ke baad ke Bhaarat ko sabke saamane rakhati hai.

yeh film abatak bani sabse badi box office hit bhaarateeya filmon mein gini jaati hai aur ab tak ki Bhaarat ki sabse badhiya film gini jaati hai. ise 1958 mein teesari sarvashreshth feature film ke liye raashtreeya film puraskaar se navaaja gaya tha. madar indiya kismat (1943), mugl-A-aazam (1960) aur shole (1975) ke saath un chuninda filmon mein aati hai jinhein aaj bhi log dekhna pasand karte hain aur yeh hindi saanskrutik filmon ki shreni mein viraajamaan hai. yeh film Bhaarat ki or se pehli baar academy puraskaaron ke liye bheji gayi film thi.[1]

film ki shuruaat vartamaan kaal mein gaaainv ke liye ek paani ki nahar ke poora hone se hoti hai. raadha (nargis), gaaainv ki maaain ke roop mein, nahar ka udghaatan karti hai aur apne bhootakaal par nazar daalati hai jab vah ek nai dulhan thi.

raadha aur shaamoo (raaj Kumar) ki shaadi ka khrcha raadha ki saas ne sukheelaala se udhaar lekar uthaaya tha. is ke kaaran gareebi aur mehnat ke kabhi na khatm hone vaale chakravyooh mein raadha fains jaati hai. udhaar ki shartein vivaadaaspad hoti hai parantu gaaainv ke sarapanch sukheelaala ke hit mein faisala sunaate hain jiske tahat shaamoo aur raadha ko apni fsal ka ek tihaai hissa sukheelaala ko भारतीय रुपया 500 ke byaaj ke taur par dena hoga. apni gareebi ko mitaane ke liye shaamoo apni jameen ki aur jutaai karne ki koshish karta hai parantu ek patthar tale uske donon haath kuchale jaate hai. apni majaboori se sharminda va auron dvaara beijjti ke kaaran vah faisala karta hai ki vah apne parivaar ke kisi kaam ka naheen aur unhein chhod kar hamesha ke liye chale jaata hai. jald hi raadha ki saas bhi gujr jaati hai. raadha apne donon beton ke saath kheton mein kaam karna jaari rakhati hai aur ek aur bete ko janm deti hai. sukheelaala use apni gareebi door karne ke liye khud se shaadi karne ka prastaav rakhata hai par raadha khud ko bechne se inkaar kar deti hai. ek toofaan gaaainv ko apni chapet mein le leta hai aur saari fsal nasht ho jaati hai. toofaan mein raadha ka chhota beta maara jaata hai. saara gaaainv palaayan karne lagta hai parantu raadha ke manaane par sabhi ruk kar vaapas gaaainv ko sthaapit karne ki koshish karte hai.

film kai saal aage pahuainchati hai jab raadha ke donon bache hue bete, birjoo (suneel datt) aur raamoo (raajeindr Kumar) ab bade ho chuke hai. birjoo apne bachapan mein sukheelaala ke bartaav ka pratishodh lene ke liye gaaainv ki ladkiyon ko chhedna shuroo kar deta hai, khaas kar sukheelaala ki beti ko. iske vipreet raamoo behad shaant svabhaav ka hai aur jald hi shaadi kar leta hai. haalaanki ab vah ek pita hai par usaki patni jald hi parivaar mein maujood gareebi ka shikaar ho jaati hai. birjoo ka gussa aakhirkaar khtaranaak roop le leta hai aur ukasaane par sukheelaala aur usaki beti par hamla kar deta hai. use gaaainv se nikaal diya jaata hai aur vah ek daakoo ban jaata hai. sukheelaala ki beti ki shaadi ke din vah badla lene vaapas aata hai aur sukheelaala ko maar kar usaki beti ko bhaga le jaane ki koshish karta hai. raadha, jisne yeh vaada kiya tha ki birjoo kisi ko koi haani naheen pahuainchaaega, birjoo ko goli maar deti hai jo usaki baaainhon mein dam tod deta hai. film vartamaan kaal mein raadha dvaara nahar khole jaane par laal rang ke bahate hue paani se samaapt hoti hai jo dheere dheere kheton mein pahuainch jaata hai.

film ka sheershak Amreeki lekhika Cathrine maayo dvaara 1927 mein likhit pustak madar indiya se liya gaya hai jisme unhonne bhaarateeya samaaj, dharm aur sanskruti par hamla kiya tha.[2] pustak mein bhaarateeya svatantrata ki maang ke virodh mein maayo ne bhaarateeya mahilaaon ki durdasha, achhooton ke prati bhed-bhaav, jaanvaron, dhul mitti aur raajanetaaon par hamla kiya tha. maayo ne pure Bhaarat mein gusse ka maahol utpann kar diya aur unki pustakon ko unke putale sahit jalaaya gaya.[3] mahaatma gaaaindhi ne bhi pustak ka virodh kiya aur kaha ki "yeh gatar inspector dvaara likhi gayi koi report hai".[4] is pustak ke virodh mein pachaas se adhik pustakein aur chitthiyaan prakaashit ki gayi jismein maayo ki galatiyon aur Amreeki logon mein Bhaarat ke prati galat vichaaron ke itihaas ko darshaaya gaya.[5]

Khan ko film aur uske sheershak ka khyaal 1952 mein aaya. us varsh October mein unhonne aayaat adhikaareeyon ke paas film ke nirmaan ka prastaav rakha.[6] 1955 mein bhaarateeya mantraalaya ke soochana va praudyokeekaran vibhaag ko aagaami film ke sheershak ke baare mein pata kiya aur unhonne mahaboob Khan ko film ki katha bhejane ko kaha taaki usaki sameeksha ki ja sake. unhein is baat ka dar tha ki kaheen film Bhaarat ke raashtriya hit ko thes na pahunchaae.[7]

is film ki kahaani jaanaboojh kar is tarah likhi gayi jisse bhaarateeya samaaj mein mahilaaon ki sthiti, purashon ke badhte aakarshan ka virodh aur apne svaabhimaan par drudh nishchaya ko darshaaya gaya. Khan ko prerana Amreeki lekhak parl S. bak aur unki the gud arth (1931) va the madar (1934) pustakon se mili jinhein Sydney freinkalin ne 1937 aur 1940 mein filmon mein rupantaarit kiya tha.[8] Khan ne in sab cheejon ko apni 1940 mein bani film aurat mein prayog kiya tha jo madar indiya ki asli prerana thi.[9] Khan ne samvedansheel tareeke se kahaani par kaarya kiya aur unhein dialogue likhne mein vajaahat mirja va S. Ali raja ne madad ki. yeh film aage chalakar kai filmon, jaise yash chopara ki deevaar film ke liye preranaasrot rahi jisme Amitabh Bachchan ne unda abhinay kiya tha aur baad mein jise telagu mein bangaaroo talli (1971) aur tamil mein puniya boomi (1978) mein banaaya gaya.[10]

film ke kai androoni drushyon ka chitreekaran Bandra, bombe mein sthit mahaboob studio mein 1956 mein kiya gaya. mahaboob Khan aur chhaayaachitrakaar farefoon Irani ne koshish ki ki zyaada se zyaada baahari drushyon ko chitrit kiya jaae jisse film vaastavikta ke kareeb ho.[11] anya drushya Maharashtra, Gujarat aur uttarapradesh ke kai shaharon mein filmaae gaye.[12] mahaboob ne aagrah kiya ki film 34mileemeetar mein chitrit ki jaae.[13]
