khaagaan ya khaakaan (mangol: хaaаaaгaaаaaн, faarasi: خaaاaaقaaاaaن) mangoliyaai aur Turkey bhaashaaoain mein 'samraat' ke baraabar ki ek shaahi upaadhi thi. isi tarah khaagaanat inhi bhaashaaoain mein 'saamraajya' ke liye shabd tha. khaagaan ko kabhi-kabhi 'khaanon ka Khan' ya 'Khan-A-khaana' bhi anuvaadit kiya jaata hai, jo 'mahaaraajaadhiraaj' (yaani 'raajaaon ka raaja') ya 'shahanashaah' (yaani 'shaahon ka shaah') ke baraabar hai. jab mangol saamraajya vistrut ho gaya tha to uske bhinn hisson ko alag-alag khaanon ke supurd kar diya tha. in sab khaanon se oopar ke 'sarvochch Khan' ko 'khaagaan' kaha jaata tha.[1]

'khaagaan' mein 'kh' akshar ke uchchaaran par dhyaan dein kyonki yeh bina bindu vaale 'kh' se jra bhinn hai. iska uchchaaran 'khraab' aur 'khreed' ke 'kh' se milta hai.
