karva chauth hinduon ka ek pramukh tyohaar hai. yeh Bhaarat ke Punjab, uttar pradesh, madhya pradesh aur Rajasthan ka parv hai. yeh kaartik maas ki Krishna paksh ki chaturthi ko manaaya jaata hai. yeh parv saubhaagyavati (suhaagin) striyaaain manaati hain. yeh vrat subah sooryodaya se pehle kareeb 4 baje ke baad shuroo hokar raat mein chandrama darshan ke baad sampoorn hota hai.

graameen striyon se lekar aadhunik mahilaaon tak sabhi naariyaaain karavaachauth ka vrat badee shraddha evam utsaah ke saath rakhati hain. shaastron ke anusaar yeh vrat kaartik maas ke krushnapaksh ki chandrodaya vyaapini chaturthi ke din karna chaahiye. pati ki deerghaayu evam akhand saubhaagya ki praapti ke liye is din bhaalachandr ganesh ji ki archana ki jaati hai. karavaachauth mein bhi sankashteeganesh chaturthi ki tarah din bhar upavaas rakhakar raat mein chandrama ko a‌aarghya dene ke uparaant hi bhojan karne ka vidhaan hai. vartamaan samay mein karavaachauth vratotsav jyaadaatar mahilaaen apne parivaar mein prachalit pratha ke anusaar hi manaati hain lekin adhiktar striyaan niraahaar rahakar chandrodaya ki prateeksha karti hain.

kaartik Krishna paksh ki chaturthi ko karakachaturthi (karva-chauth) vrat karne ka vidhaan hai. is vrat ki visheshata yeh hai ki keval saubhaagyavati striyon ko hi yeh vrat karne ka adhikaar hai. stri kisi bhi aayu, jaati, varn, sanpradaaya ki ho, sabko is vrat ko karne ka adhikaar hai. jo saubhaagyavati (suhaagin) striyaaain apne pati ki aayu, svaasthya va saubhaagya ki kaamna karti hain ve yeh vrat rakhati hain.

yeh vrat 12 varsh tak athva 16 varsh tak lagaataar har varsh kiya jaata hai. avadhi poori hone ke pashchaat is vrat ka udyaapan (upasanhaar) kiya jaata hai. jo suhaagin striyaaain aajeevan rakhana chaahein ve jeevanabhar is vrat ko kar sakti hain. is vrat ke samaan saubhaagyadaayak vrat anya koi doosra naheen hai. at: suhaagin striyaaain apne suhaag ki rakshaarth is vrat ka satat paalan karein.

kaartik Krishna paksh ki chandrodaya vyaapini chaturthi arthaat us chaturthi ki raatri ko jismein chandrama dikhaai dene wala hai, us din praat: snaan karke apne suhaag (pati) ki aayu, aarogya, saubhaagya ka sankalp lekar dinbhar niraahaar rahein.

poojan

us din Bhagwan Shiv-paarvati, svaami kaartikeya, ganesh evam chandrama ka poojan karein. poojan karne ke liye baaloo athva safed mitti ki vedi banaakar uparokt varnit sabhi devon ko sthaapit karein.

naivedya

shuddh ghi mein aate ko seinkakar usamein shakkar athva khaand milaakar modak (laddoo) naivedya hetu banaaeain.

kaali mitti mein shakkar ki chaasani milaakar us mitti se taiyaar kiye gaye mitti ke karave athva taanbe ke bane hue karave.

10 athva 13 karave apni saamarthya anusaar rakhein.

'Om shivaayai nam:' se paarvati ka, 'Om nam: shivaaya' se Shiv ka, 'Om shanmukhaaya nam:' se svaami kaartikeya ka, 'Om ganeshaaya nam:' se ganesh ka tatha 'Om somaaya nam:' se chandrama ka poojan karein.

karavon mein laddoo ka naivedya rakhakar naivedya arpit karein. ek lota, ek vastr va ek vishesh karva dakshina ke roop mein arpit kar poojan samaapan karein. karva chauth vrat ki katha padhein athva sunein.

pati ki maata (arthaat apni saasooji) ko uparokt roop se arpit ek lota, vastr va vishesh karva bheint kar aasheervaad lein. yadi ve jeevit na hon to unke tulya kisi anya stri ko bheint karein. iske pashchaat swayam va parivaar ke anya sadasya bhojan karein.

katha

pratham katha

bahut samay pehle ki baat hai, ek saahookaar ke saat bete aur unki ek bahan karva thi. sabhi saaton bhaai apni bahan se bahut pyaar karte the. yahaaain tak ki ve pehle use khaana khilaate aur baad mein swayam khaate the. ek baar unki bahan sasuraal se maayake I hui thi.

shaam ko bhaai jab apna vyaapaar-vyavasaaya band kar ghar aae to dekha unki bahan bahut vyaakul thi. sabhi bhaai khaana khaane baithe aur apni bahan se bhi khaane ka aagrah karne lage, lekin bahan ne bataaya ki usaka aaj karva chauth ka nirjal vrat hai aur vah khaana sirf chandrama ko dekhkar use argh‍aaya dekar hi kha sakti hai. chooainki chandrama abhi tak naheen nikla hai, isliye vah bhookh-pyaas se vyaakul ho uthi hai.

sabse chhote bhaai ko apni bahan ki haalat dekhi naheen jaati aur vah door peepal ke ped par ek deepak jalaakar chalni ki ot mein rakh deta hai. door se dekhne par vah aisa prateet hota hai ki jaise chaturthi ka chaaaind udit ho raha ho.

iske baad bhaai apni bahan ko bataata hai ki chaaaind nikal aaya hai, tum use arghya dene ke baad bhojan kar sakti ho. bahan khushi ke maare seedhiyon par chadhkar chaaaind ko dekhti hai, use argh‍aaya dekar khaana khaane baith jaati hai.

is katha ka saar yeh hai ki shaakaprasthapur vedadharma braahman ki vivaahita putri veeravati ne karva chauth ka vrat kiya tha. niymaanusaar use chandrodaya ke baad bhojan karna tha, parantu usase bhookh naheen sahi gayi aur vah vyaakul ho uthi. uske bhaaiyon se apni bahan ki vyaakulata dekhi naheen gayi aur unhonne peepal ki aad mein aatishbaaji ka sundar prakaash failaakar chandrodaya dikha diya aur veeravati ko bhojan kara diya.

parinaam yeh hua ki usaka pati tatkaal adrushya ho gaya. adheer veeravati ne baarah maheene tak pratyek chaturthi ko vrat rakha aur karva chauth ke din usaki tapasya se usaka pati pun: praapt ho gaya.

truteeya katha

ek samay ki baat hai ki ek karva naam ki pativrata stri apne pati ke saath nadi ke kinaare ke gaaainv mein rahati thi. ek din usaka pati nadi mein snaan karne gaya. snaan karte samay vahaaain ek magar ne usaka pair pakad liya. vah manushya karva-karva kah ke apni patni ko pukaarane laga.

usaki aavaaj sunakar usaki patni karva bhaagi chali I aur aakar magar ko kachche dhaage se baaaindh diya. magar ko baaaindhakar yamaraaj ke yahaaain pahuainchi aur yamaraaj se kehne lagi- he bhagavan! magar ne mere pati ka pair pakad liya hai. us magar ko pair pakadne ke aparaadh mein aap apne bal se narak mein le jaao.

yamaraaj bole- abhi magar ki aayu shesh hai, at: main use naheen maar sakta. is par karva boli, agar aap aisa naheen karoge to main aap ko shraap dekar nasht kar dooaingi. sunakar yamaraaj dar gaye aur us pativrata karva ke saath aakar magar ko yamapuri bhej diya aur karva ke pati ko deerghaayu di. he karva maata! jaise tumane apne pati ki raksha ki, vaise sabke patiyon ki raksha karna.

chauthi katha

ek baar paandu putr arjun tapasya karne neelagiri naamak parvat par gaye. idhar dropadi bahut pareshaan theen. unki koi khabar na milne par unhonne Krishna Bhagwan ka dhyaan kiya aur apni chinta vyakt ki. Krishna Bhagwan ne kaha- bahana, isi tarah ka prashn ek baar maata paarvati ne shankaraji se kiya tha.

poojan kar chandrama ko argh‍aaya dekar fir bhojan grahan kiya jaata hai. sone, chaaaindi ya mitti ke karave ka aapas mein aadaan-pradaan kiya jaata hai, jo aapasi prem-bhaav ko badhaata hai. poojan karne ke baad mahilaaeain apne saas-sasur evam badon ko pranaam kar unka aasheervaad leti hain.

tab shankaraji ne maata paarvati ko karva chauth ka vrat batalaaya. is vrat ko karne se striyaaain apne suhaag ki raksha har aane vaale sankat se vaise hi kar sakti hain jaise ek braahman ne ki thi. praacheenakaal mein ek braahman tha. uske chaar ladke evam ek gunavati ladki thi.

ek baar ladki maayake mein thi, tab karva chauth ka vrat pada. usane vrat ko vidhipoorvak kiya. poore din nirjala rahi. kuchh khaaya-peeya naheen, par uske chaaron bhaai pareshaan the ki bahan ko pyaas lagi hogi, bhookh lagi hogi, par bahan chandrodaya ke baad hi jal grahan karegi.

bhaaiyon se na raha gaya, unhonne shaam hote hi bahan ko banaavati chandrodaya dikha diya. ek bhaai peepal ki ped par chhalni lekar chadh gaya aur deepak jalaakar chhalni se roshani utpann kar di. tabhi doosare bhaai ne neeche se bahan ko aavaaj di- dekho bahan, chandrama nikal aaya hai, poojan kar bhojan grahan karo. bahan ne bhojan grahan kiya.

bhojan grahan karte hi uske pati ki mrutyu ho gayi. ab vah du:khi ho vilaap karne lagi, tabhi vahaaain se raani indraani nikal rahi theen. unase usaka du:kh na dekha gaya. braahman kanya ne unke pair pakad liye aur apne du:kh ka kaaran poochha, tab indraani ne bataaya- toone bina chandra darshan kiye karva chauth ka vrat tod diya isliye yeh kasht mila.

ab too varsh bhar ki chauth ka vrat niymapoorvak karna to tera pati jeevit ho jaaega. usane indraani ke kahe anusaar chauth vrat kiya to pun: saubhaagyavati ho gayi. isliye pratyek stri ko apne pati ki deerghaayu ke liye yeh vrat karna chaahiye. dropadi ne yeh vrat kiya aur arjun sakushal manovaanchhit fal praapt kar vaapas laut aae. tabhi se hindu mahilaaeain apne akhand suhaag ke liye karva chauth vrat karti hain.
