kaalidaas sanskrut bhaasha ke mahaan kavi aur naatakakaar the.[1] unhonne Bhaarat ki pauraanik kathaaon aur darshan ko aadhaar banaakar rachanaaen ki aur unki rachanaaon mein bhaarateeya jeevan aur darshan ke vividh roop aur mool tatv niroopit hain. kaalidaas apni inheen visheshataaon ke kaaran raashtra ki samagr raashtreeya chetna ko svar dene vaale kavi maane jaate hain aur kuchh vidvaan unhein raashtreeya kavi ka sthaan tak dete hain.[2]

abhijnyaaanashaakuntalam kaalidaas ki sabse prasiddh rachana hai. yeh naatak kuchh un bhaarateeya saahityik krutiyon mein se hai jinka sabse pehle Europeeya bhaashaaon mein anuvaad hua tha. yeh poore vishv saahitya mein agraganya rachana maani jaati hai. meghadootam kaalidaas ki sarvashreshth rachana hai jismein kavi ki kalpanaashakti aur abhivyanjanaavaadabhaavaabhivyanjana shakti apne sarvotkrusht star par hai aur prakruti ke maanaveekaran ka adbhut rakhandakaavye se khandakaavya mein dikhta hai.[3]

kaalidaas vaidarbhi reeti ke kavi hain aur tadanuroop ve apni alankaar yukt kintu saral aur madhur bhaasha ke liye vishesh roop se jaane jaate hain.[4]

unke prakruti varnan adviteeya hain aur vishesh roop se apni upamaaon ke liye jaane jaate hain.[5] saahitya mein audaarya gun ke prati kaalidaas ka vishesh prem hai aur unhonne apne shrungaar ras pradhaan saahitya mein bhi aadarshavaadi parampara aur naitik moolyon ka samuchit dhyaan rakha hai.

kaalidaas ke paravarti kavi baanabhatt ne unki sooktiyon ki vishesh roop se prashansa ki hai.[6]

pratham shataabdi isa poorv ka mat -

  • ham koi bhi tithi sveekaar karein, vah hamaara uchit anumaan bhar hai aur isse adhik kuchh naheen.

janm sthaan

kaalidaas ke janmasthaan ke baare mein bhi vivaad hai. meghadootam mein ujjain ke prati unki vishesh prem ko dekhte hue kuchh log unhein ujjain ka nivaasi maanate hain.

saahityakaaron ne ye bhi siddh karne ka prayaas kiya hai ki kaalidaas ka janm uttaraakhand ke roodraprayaag jile ke kaviltha gaanv mein hua tha. kaalidaas ne yaheen apni praarambhik shiksha grahan ki thi auऱ yaheen par unhonne meghadoot, kumaarasanbhav auऱ raghuvansh jaise mahaakaavyon ki rachana ki thi. kaviltha chaaradhaam yaatra maarg mein guptakaashi mein sthit hai. guptakaashi se kaaleemath siddhapeeth vaale raaste mein kaaleemath mandir se chaar kilometer aage kaviltha gaanv sthit hai. kaviltha mein sarkaar ne kaalidaas ki pratima sthaapit kar ek sabhaagaar ki bhi nirmaan karavaaya hai. jahaan par har saal June maah mein teen dinon tak goshthi ka aayojan hota hai, jismein deshbhar ke vidvaan bhaag lete hain.

kuchh vidvaanon ne to unhein Bengal aur udeesa ka bhi saabit karne ki koshis ki hai. kehte hain ki kaalidaas ki Sri Lanka mein hatya kar di gayi thi lekin vidvaan ise bhi kapol-kalpit maanate hain.[11]

vidyottama aur kaalidaas ka vivaah ho gaya tab vidyottama ko sachchaai ka pata chala ki kaalidaas anapadh hain. usane kaalidaas ko dhikkaara aur yeh kah kar ghar se nikaal diya ki sachche pandit bane bina ghar vaapis naheen aana. kaalidaas ne sachche man se kaali devi ki aaraadhana ki aur unke aasheervaad se ve gyaani aur dhanavaan ban gaye. gyaan praapti ke baad jab ve ghar laute to unhonne darvaaja khadka kar kaha - kapaatam udghaatya sundari (darvaaja kholo, sundari). vidyottama ne chakit hokar kaha -- asti kashchid vaagvishesh: (koi vidvaan lagta hai).

rachanaaen

naatak

maalavikaagnimitram kaalidaas ki pehli rachana hai, jismein raaja agnimitr ki kahaani hai. agnimitr ek nirvaasit naukar ki beti maalavika ke chitr ke prem karne lagta hai. jab agnimitr ki patni ko is baat ka pata chalta hai to vah maalavika ko jail mein dalava deti hai. magar sanyog se maalavika Rajkumari saabit hoti hai aur uske prem-sambandh ko sveekaar kar liya jaata hai.

abhigyaan shaakuntalam kaalidaas ki doosari rachana hai jo unki jagataprasiddhi ka kaaran bana. is naatak ka anuvaad angreji aur jarman ke alaava duniya ke anek bhaashaaon mein hua hai. ismein raaja dushyant ki kahaani hai jo van mein ek parityakt rishi putri shakuntala (vishvaamitr aur menaka ki beti) se prem karne lagta hai. donon jungle mein gandharv vivaah kar lete hain. raaja dushyant apni rajdhani laut aate hain. isi beech rishi durvaasa shakuntala ko shaap de dete hain ki jiske viyog mein usane rishi ka apamaan kiya vahi use bhool jaaega. kaafi kshamaapraarthana ke baad rishi ne shaap ko thoda naram karte hue kaha ki raaja ki angoothi unhein dikhaate hi sab kuchh yaad aa jaaega. lekin rajdhani jaate hue raaste mein vah angoothi kho jaati hai. sthiti tab aur gambhir ho gayi jab shakuntala ko pata chala ki vah garbhavati hai. shakuntala lakh gidgidaai lekin raaja ne use pahachaanane se inkaar kar diya. jab ek machhuaare ne vah angoothi dikhaayi to raaja ko sab kuchh yaad aaya aur raaja ne shakuntala ko apna liya. shakuntala shrungaar ras se bhare sundar kaavyon ka ek anupam naatak hai. kaha jaata hai kaavyeshu naatakan ramyan tatr ramya shakuntala (kavita ke anek roopon mein agar sabse sundar naatak hai to naatakon mein sabse anupam shakuntala hai.)

vikramorvasheeyam ek rahasyon bhara naatak hai. ismein puroorava indralok ki apsara urvashi se prem karne lagte hain. puroorava ke prem ko dekhkar urvashi bhi unase prem karne lagti hai. Indra ki sabha mein jab urvashi nrutya karne jaati hai to puroorava se prem ke kaaran vah vahaan achha pradarshan naheen kar paati hai. isse Indra gusse mein use shaapit kar dharati par bhej dete hain. haalaanki, usaka premi agar usase hone vaale putr ko dekh le to vah fir svarg laut sakegi. vikramorvasheeyam kaavyagat saundarya aur shilp se bharpoor hai.

mahaakaavya

kumaarasanbhavam unke mahaakaavyon ke naam hai. raghuvansham mein sampoorn raghuvansh ke raajaaon ki gaathaaeain hain, to kumaarasanbhavam mein Shiv-paarvati ki premakatha aur kaartikeya ke janm ki kahaani hai.

raghuvansham mein kaalidaas ne raghukul ke raajaaon ka varnan kiya hai.

khandakaavya

meghadootam ek geetikaavya hai jismein yaksh dvaara megh se sandesh le jaane ki praarthana aur use doot bana kar apni priya ke paas bhejane ka varnan hai. meghadoot ke do bhaag hain - poorvamegh evam uttaramegh.


ritusanhaaram mein sabhi rituon mein prakruti ke vibhinn roopon ka vistaar se varnan kiya gaya hai.

anya rachanaaeain

inke alaava kai chhitput rachanaaon ka shreya kaalidaas ko diya jaata hai, lekin vidvaanon ka mat hai ki ye rachanaaen anya kaviyon ne kaalidaas ke naam se ki. naatakakaar aur kavi ke alaava kaalidaas jyotish ke bhi visheshagya maane jaate hain. uttar kaalaamrutam naamak jyotish pustika ki rachana ka shreya kaalidaas ko diya jaata hai. aisa maana jaata hai ki kaali devi ki pooja se unhein jyotish ka gyaan mila. is pustika mein ki gayi bhavishyavaani satya saabit huin.

kaavya saundarya

kaalidaas ko kavikulaguru, kanishthikaadhishthit aur kavitaakaamineevilaas jaisi prashanshaatmak upaadhiyaaain pradaan ki gayi hain jo unke kaavyagat vishishtataaon se abhibhoot hokar hi di gayi hain. kaalidaas ke kaavya ki vishishtataaon ka varnan nimnavat kiya ja sakta hai:

kaalidaas vaidarbhi reeti ke kavi hain aur unhonne prasaad gun se poorn lalit shabdayojana ka prayog kiya hai. prasaad gun ka lakshan hai - "jo gun man mein vaise hi vyaapt ho jaaya jaise sookhi indhan ki lakdi mein agni sahasa prajvalit ho uthati hai"[14] aur kaalidaas ki bhaasha ki yahi visheshata hai.

kaalidaas ki bhaasha madhur naad sundari se yukt hai aur samaason ka alpaprayog, padon ka samuchit sthaan par nivesh, shabdaalankaaron ka svaabhaavik prayog ityaadi gunon ke kaaran usamein pravaah aur praanjalata vidyamaan hai.

alankaar yojana

kaalidaas ne shabdaalankaaron ka svaabhaavik prayog kiya hai aur unhein upama alankaar ke prayog mein siddhahast aur unki upamaaon ko shreshth maana jaata hai.[15] udahaaran ke liye:

arthaat svayanvar mein baari-baari se pratyek raaja ke saamane gaman karti hui indumati raajaaon ke saamane se chalti hui deepashikha ki tarah lag rahi thi jiske aage badh jaane par raajaaon ka mukh vivrn (reject kar diye jaane se andhakaaramaya, malin) ho jaata tha.

abhivyanjana

kaalidaas ki kavita ki pramukh visheshata hai ki vah chitron ke nirmaan mein sabkuchh na kehkar bhi abhivyanjana dvaara poora chitr kheench dete hain. jaise:

arthaat devarshi ke dvaara aisi (paarvati ke vivaah prastaav ki) baat karne par, pita ke sameep baithi paarvati ne sir jhuka kar haath mein liye kamal ki pankhudiyon ko ginna shuroo kar diya.

aadhunikkaal mein kaalidaas

koodiyttam mein sanskrut aadhaarit naatakon ka ek rangamanch hai, jahaan bhaas ke naatak khele jaate hain. mahaan koodiyttam kalaakaar aur naatya shaastr ke vidvaan svargeeya naatyaachaarya vidushakarattanam padmashri guroo mani maadhav chakyaar ne kaalidaas ke naatakon ke manchan ki shurooaat ki. kaalidaas ko lokapriya banaane mein dakshin bhaarateeya bhaashaaon ke filmon ka bhi kaafi yogadaan hai. kannad bhaasha ki filmon kavirtn kaalidaas aur mahaakavi kaalidaas ne kaalidaas ke jeevan ko kaafi lokapriya banaaya. in filmon mein special ifekt aur sangeet ka bakhoobi upayog kiya gaya tha. vi shaantaaraam ne shakuntala par aadhaarit film banaayi thi. ye film itni prabhaavashaali thi ki ispar aadhaarit anek bhaashaaon mein kai filmein banaai gayi.

hindi lekhak mohan Rakesh ne kaalidaas ke jeevan par ek naatak aashaadh ka ek din ki rachana ki, jo kaalidaas ke sangharshasheel jeevan ke vibhinn pahaluon ko dikhaata hai. 1976 mein sureindr varma ne ek naatak likha, jismein is baat ka jikr kiya gaya hai ki paarvati ke shaap ke kaaran kaalidaas kumaarasanbhav ko poora naheen kar paae the. Shiv aur paarvati ke gaarhasth jeevan ka ashleelataapoorvak varnan karne ke liye paarvati ne unhein yeh shaap diya tha. is naatak mein kaalidaas ko chandragupt ki adaalat ka saamana karna pada, jahaan panditon aur naitiktaavaadiyon ne unapar anek aarop lagaae. is naatak mein na sirf ek lekhak ke sangharshasheel jeevan ko dikhaaya gaya hai, balki lekhak ki abhivyakti ki svatantrata ke mahatva ko bhi rekhaankit kiya gaya hai.
