Indra ne kaha hai- he brahmaputr, he muniyon mein shreshth, sabhi shaastron ke jnyaaata, he Dave, vraton mein uttam us vrat ko bataaeain, jis vrat se manushyon ko mukti, laabh praapt ho tatha he brahman‌! us vrat se praaniyon ko bhog va moksh bhi praapt ho jaae. Indra ki baaton ko sunakar naaradaji ne kaha- tretaayug ke ant mein aur dvaapar yug ke praarambh samay mein ninditkarm ko karne wala kans naam ka ek atyant paapi daitya hua. us dusht va neech karmi duraachaari kans ki devaki naam ki ek sundar bahan thi. devaki ke garbh se utpann aathavaaain putr kans ka vadh karega.

naaradaji ki baatein sunakar Indra ne kaha- he mahaamate! us duraachaari kans ki katha ka vistaarapoorvak varnan keejiye. kya yeh sambhav hai ki devaki ke garbh se utpann aathavaaain putr apne maama kans ki hatya karega. Indra ki sandehabhari baaton ko sunakar naaradaji ne kaha-he aditiputr Indra! ek samay ki baat hai. us dusht kans ne ek jyotishi se poochha ki braahmanon mein shreshth jyotirvid! meri mrutyu kis prakaar aur kiske dvaara hogi. jyotishi bole-he daanavon mein shreshth kans! vasudev ki dharmapatni devaki jo vaak‌aapatu hai aur aapki bahan bhi hai. usi ke garbh se utpann usaka aathavaan putr jo ki shatruon ko bhi paraajit kar is sansaar mein 'Krishna' ke naam se vikhyaat hoga, vahi ek samay sooryodayakaal mein aapka vadh karega.

jyotishi ki baatein sunakar kans ne kaha- he daivaj, buddhimaanon mein agranya ab aap yeh bataaen ki devaki ka aathavaan putr kis maas mein kis din mera vadh karega. jyotishi bole- he mahaaraaj! maagh maas ki shukl paksh ki tithi ko solah kalaaon se poorn shreekrushn se aapka yuddh hoga. usi yuddh mein ve aapka vadh kareinge. isliye he mahaaraaj! aap apni raksha yatnapoorvak karein. itna bataane ke pashchaat naaradaji ne Indra se kaha- jyotishi dvaara bataae gaye samay par heekans ki mrutyukrushn ke haath ni:sandeh hogi. tab Indra ne kaha- he muni! us duraachaari kans ki katha ka varnanakeejiye aur bataaie ki Krishna ka janm kaise hoga tatha kans ki mrutyu Krishna dvaara kis prakaar hogi.

Indra ki baaton ko sunakar naaradaji ne pun: kehna praarambh kiya- us duraachaari kans ne apne ek dvaarapaal se kaha- meri is praanon se priya bahan ki poorn suraksha karna. dvaarapaal ne kaha- aisa hi hoga. kans ke jaane ke pashchaat usaki chhoti bahan du:khit hote hue jal lene ke bahaane ghada lekar taalaab par gayi. us taalaab ke kinaare ek ghanaghor vruksh ke neeche baithakar devaki rone lagi. usi samay ek sundar stri jiska naam yashoda tha, usane aakar devaki se priya vaani mein kaha- he kaante! is prakaar tum kyon vilaap kar rahi ho. apne rone ka kaaran mujhse bataao. tab du:khit devaki ne yashoda se kaha- he bahan! neech karmon mein aasakt duraachaari mera jyeshth bhraata kans hai. us dusht bhraata ne mere kai putron ka vadh kar diya. is samay mere garbh mein aathavaaain putr hai. vah iska bhi vadh kar daalega. is baat mein kisi prakaar ka sanshaya ya sandeh naheen hai, kyonki mere jyeshth bhraata ko yeh bhaya hai ki mere ashtam putr se usaki mrutyu avashya hogi.

devaki ki baatein sunakar yashoda ne kaha- he bahan! vilaap mat karo. main bhi garbhavati hooain. yadi mujhe kanya hui to tum apne putr ke badle us kanya ko le lena. is prakaar tumhaara putr kans ke haathon maara naheen jaaega.

tadanantar kans ne apne dvaarapaal se poochha- devaki kahaaain hai? is samay vah dikhaai naheen de rahi hai. tab dvaarapaal ne kans se namravaani mein kaha- he mahaaraaj! aapki bahan jal lene taalaab par gayi hui hain. yeh sunate hi kans krodhit ho utha aur usane dvaarapaal ko usi sthaan par jaane ko kaha jahaan vah gayi hui hai. dvaarapaal ki drushti taalaab ke paas devaki par padi. tab usane kaha ki aap kis kaaran se yahaan I hain. usaki baatein sunakar devaki ne kaha ki mere gruh mein jal naheen tha, jise lene main jalaashaya par I hooain. iske pashchaat devaki apne gruh ki or chali gayi.

is prakaar bataate hue naaradaji ne Indra se kaha- aise vijay naamak shubh muhoort mein shreekrushn ka janm hua aur shreekrushn ke prabhaav se hi usi kshan bandeegruh ke darvaaje swayam khul gaye. dwaar par pahara dene vaale paharedaar raakshas sabhi moorchhit ho gaye. devaki ne usi kshan apne pati vasudev se kaha- he svaami! aap nidra ka tyaag karein aur mere is ashtam putr ko gokul mein le jaaeain, vahaaain is putr ko nand gop ki dharmapatni yashoda ko de dein. us samay yamunaaji poornaroopase baadhgrast theen, kintu jab vasudevaji baalak Krishna ko soop mein lekar yamunaaji ko paar karne ke liye utare usi kshan baalak ke charanon ka sparsh hote hi yamunaaji apne poorv sthir roop mein aa gain. kisi prakaar vasudevaji gokul pahuainche aur nand ke gruh mein pravesh kar unhonne apna putr tatkaal unhein de diya aur uske badle mein unki kanya le li. ve tatkshan vahaan se vaapas aakar kans ke bandi gruh mein pahuainch gaye.

praat:kaal jab sabhi raakshas paharedaar nidra se jaage to kans ne dvaarapaal se poochha ki ab devaki ke garbh se kya hua? is baat ka pata lagaakar mujhe bataao. dvaarapaalon ne mahaaraaj ki aajnyaa ko maanate hue kaaraagaar mein jaakar dekha to vahaaain devaki ki god mein ek kanya thi. jise dekhkar dvaarapaalon ne kans ko soochit kiya, kintu kans ko to us kanya se bhaya hone laga. at: vah swayam kaaraagaar mein gaya aur usane devaki ki god se kanya ko jhapat liya aur use ek patthar ki chattaan par patak diya kintu vah kanya vishnu ki maaya se aakaash ki or chali gayi aur antariksh mein jaakar vidyut ke roop mein parinit ho gayi.

jab kans ko pootana ki mrutyu ka samaachaar praapt hua to usane Krishna ka vadh karne ke liye kramash: keshi naamak daitya ko ashv ke roop mein uske pashchaat arishth naamak daitya ko bail ke roop mein bheja, kintu ye donon bhi Krishna ke haathon mrutyu ko praapt hue. iske pashchaat kans ne kaalyaakhya naamak daitya ko kauve ke roop mein bheja, kintu vah bhi Krishna ke haathon maara gaya. apne balavaan raakshason ki mrutyu ke aaghaat se kans atyadhik bhayabheet ho gaya. usane dvaarapaalon ko aajnyaa di ki nand ko tatkaal mere samaksh upasthit karo. dvaarapaal nand ko lekar jab upasthit hue tab kans ne nandaji se kaha ki yadi tumhein apne praanon ko bachaana hai to paarijaat ke pushp le laao. yadi tum naheen la paae to tumhaara vadh nishchit hai.

kans ki baaton ko sunakar nand ne 'aisa heehoga' kaha aur apne gruh ki or chale gaye. ghar aakar unhonne sampoorn vruttaant apni patni yashoda ko sunaaya, jise shreekrushn bhi sun rahe the. ek din shreekrushn apne mitron ke saath yamuna nadi ke kinaare geind khel rahe the aur achaanak swayam ne hi geind ko yamuna mein feink diya. yamuna mein geind feinkane ka mukhya uddeshya yahi tha ki ve kisi prakaar paarijaat pushpon ko le aaeain. at: ve kadamb ke vruksh par chadhkar yamuna mein kood pade.

Krishna ke yamuna mein koodane ka samaachaar shreedhar naamak gopaal ne yashoda ko sunaaya. yeh sunakar yashoda bhaagati hui yamuna nadi ke kinaare aa pahuaincheen aur usane yamuna nadi ki praarthana karte hue kaha- he yamuna! yadi main baalak ko dekhooaingi to bhaadrapad maas ki rohini yukt ashtami ka vrat avashya karoongi kyonki daya, daan, sajjan praani, braahman kul mein janm, rohiniyukt ashtami, gangaajal, ekaadashi, gaya shraaddh aur rohini vrat ye sabhi durlabh hain.

hajaaron ashvamedh yagya, sahasron raajasooya yagya, daan teerth aur vrat karne se jo fal praapt hota hai, vah sab krushnaashtami ke vrat ko karne se praapt ho jaata hai. yeh baat naarad rishi ne Indra se kahi. Indra ne kaha- he muniyon mein shreshth naarad! yamuna nadi mein koodane ke baad us baalaroopi Krishna ne paataal mein jaakar kya kiya? yeh sampoorn vruttaant bhi bataaeain. naarad ne kaha- he Indra! paataal mein us baalak se naagaraaj ki patni ne kaha ki tum yahaaain kya kar rahe ho, kahaaain se aae ho aur yahaaain aane ka kya prayojan hai?

naagapatni boleen- he Krishna! kya toone dyootakreeda ki hai, jismein apna samast dhan haar gaya hai. yadi yeh baat theek hai to kankad, mukut aur maniyon ka haar lekar apne gruh mein chale jaao kyonki is samay mere svaami shayan kar rahe hain. yadi ve uth gaye to ve tumhaara bhakshan kar jaaeainge. naagapatni ki baatein sunakar Krishna ne kaha- 'he kaante! main kis prayojan se yahaaain aaya hooain, vah vruttaant main tumhein bataata hooain. samajh lo main kaaliyaanaag ke mastak ko kans ke saath dyoot mein haar chuka hoon aur vahi lene main yahaaain aaya hooain. baalak Krishna ki is baat ko sunakar naagapatni atyant krodhit ho utheen aur apne soe hue pati ko uthaate hue usane kaha- he svaami! aapke ghar yeh shatru aaya hai. at: aap iska hanan keejiye.

apni svaamini ki baaton ko sunakar kaaliyaanaag nindraavastha se jaag pada aur baalak Krishna se yuddh karne laga. is yuddh mein Krishna ko moorchha aa gayi, usi moorha ko door karne ke liye unhonne garud ka smaran kiya. smaran hote hi garud vahaaain aa gaye. shreekrushn ab garud par chadhkar kaaliyaanaag se yuddh karne lage aur unhonne kaaliynaag ko yuddh mein paraajit kar diya.

ab kaliyaanaag ne bhaleebhaanti jaan liya tha ki main jinse yuddh kar raha hooain, ve Bhagwan vishnu ke avataar shreekrushn hi hain. at: unhonne Krishna ke charanon mein saashtaang pranaam kiya aur paarijaat se utpann bahut se pushpon ko mukut mein rakhakar Krishna ko bheint kiya. jab Krishna chalne ko hue tab kaaliyaanaag ki patni ne kaha he svaami! main Krishna ko naheen jaan pai. he janaardan mantra rahit, kriya rahit, bhaktibhaav rahit meri raksha keejiye. he prabhu! mere svaami mujhe vaapas de dein. tab shreekrushn ne kaha- he sarpini! daityon mein jo sabse balavaan hai, us kans ke saamane main tere pati ko le jaakar chhod dooainga anyatha tum apne gruh ko chali jaao. ab shreekrushn kaaliyaanaag ke fan par nrutya karte hue yamuna ke oopar aa gaye.

tadanantar kaaliya ki funkaar se teenon lok kampaayamaan ho gaye. ab Krishna kans ki Mathura nagari ko chal diye. vahaan kamalapushpon ko dekhkar yamunaake madhya jalaashaya mein vah kaaliya sarp bhi chala gaya.

idhar kans bhi vismit ho gaya tatha Krishna prasannachitt hokar gokul laut aae. unke gokul aane par unki maata yashoda ne vibhinn prakaar ke utsav kiye. ab Indra ne naaradaji se poochha- he mahaamune! sansaar ke praani baalak shreekrushn ke aane par atyadhik aanandit hue. aakhir shreekrushn ne kya-kya charitra kiya? vah sabhi aap mujhe bataane ki krupa karein. naarad ne Indra se kaha- man ko harane wala Mathura nagar yamuna nadi ke dakshin bhaag mein sthit hai. vahaan kans ka mahaabalashaayi bhaai chaanoor rahata tha. us chaanoor se shreekrushn ke mallayuddh ki ghoshana ki gayi. he Indra!

Krishna evam chaanoor ka mallayuddh atyant aashcharyajanak tha. chaanoor ki apeksha Krishna baalaroop mein the. bheri shankh aur mrudang ke shabdon ke saath kans aur keshi is yuddh ko Mathura ki janasabha ke madhya mein dekh rahe the. shreekrushn ne apne pairon ko chaanoor ke gale mein fainsaakar usaka vadh kar diya. chaanoor ki mrutyu ke pashchaat unka mallayuddh keshi ke saath hua. ant mein keshi bhi yuddh mein Krishna ke dvaara maara gaya. keshi ke mrutyuparaant mallayuddh dekh rahe sabhi praani shreekrushn ki jaya-jayakaar karne lage. baalak Krishna dvaara chaanoor aur keshi ka vadh hona kans ke liye atyant hrudaya vidaarak tha. at: usane sainikon ko bulaakar unhein aajnyaa di ki tum sabhi astr-shastron se susajjit hokar Krishna se yuddh karo.

he Indra! usi kshan shreekrushn ne garud, balaraam tatha sudarshan chakr ka dhyaan kiya, jiske parinaamasvaroop baladevaji sudarshan chakr lekar garud par aaroodh hokar aae. unhein aata dekh baalak Krishna ne sudarshan chakr ko unase lekar swayam garud ki peeth par baithakar na jaane kitne hi raakshason aur daityon ka vadh kar diya, kitnon ke shareer ang-bhang kar diye. is yuddh mein shreekrushn aur baladev ne asankhya daityon ka vadh kiya. balaraamaji ne apne aayudh shastr hal se aur Krishna ne sudarshan chakr se maagh maas ki shukl paksh ki saptami ko vishaal daityon ke samooh ka sarvanaash kiya.

jab ant mein keval duraachaari kans hi bach gaya to Krishna ne kaha- he dusht, adharmi, duraachaari ab main is mahaayuddh sthal par tujhase yuddh kar tatha tera vadh kar is sansaar ko tujhase mukt karaaooainga. yeh kehte hue shreekrushn ne uske keshon ko pakad liya aur kans ko ghumaakar pruthvi par patak diya, jisse vah mrutyu ko praapt hua. kans ke marne par devataaon ne shankhaghosh va pushpavrushti ki. vahaan upasthit samudaaya shreekrushn ki jaya-jayakaar kar raha tha. kans ki mrutyu par nand, devaki, vasudev, yashoda aur is sansaar ke sabhi praaniyon ne harsh parv manaaya.

vidhi

is katha ko sunane ke pashchaat Indra ne naaradaji se kaha- he rishi is Krishna janmaashtami ka poorn vidhaan bataaen evam iske karne se kya punya praapt hota hai, iske karne ki kya vidhi hai?

naaradaji ne kaha- he Indra! bhaadrapad maas ki krushnajanmaashtami ko is vrat ko karna chaahiye. us din brahmacharya aadi niyamon ka paalan karte hue shreekrushn ka sthaapan karna chaahiye. sarvapratham shreekrushn ki moorti svarn kalash ke oopar sthaapit kar chandan, dhoop, pushp, kamalapushp aadi se shreekrushn pratima ko vastr se veshtit kar vidhipoorvak archan karein. guruchi, chhoti peetal aur saunth ko shreekrushn ke aage alag-alag rakhein. iske pashchaat Bhagwan vishnu ke das roopon ko devaki sahit sthaapit karein.

hari ke saannidhya mein Bhagwan vishnu ke das avataaron, gopika, yashoda, vasudev, nand, baladev, devaki, gaayon, vats, kaaliya, yamuna nadi, gopagan aur gopaputron ka poojan karein. iske pashchaat aathavein varsh ki samaapti par is mahatvapoorn vrat ka udyaapan karm bhi karein.

yathaashakti vidhaan dvaara shreekrushn ki svarn pratima banaaeain. iske pashchaat 'matsya koorm' is mantra dvaara archanaadi karein. aachaarya brahma tatha aath ritvijon ka vaidik reeti se varan karein. pratidin braahman ko dakshina aur bhojan dekar prasann karein.

poorn vidhi

upavaas ki poorv raatri ko halka bhojan karein aur brahmacharya ka paalan karein. upavaas ke din praat:kaal snaanaadi nityakarmon se nivrutt ho jaaeain. pashchaat soorya, som, yam, kaal, sandhi, bhoot, pavan, dik‌aapati, bhoomi, aakaash, khechar, amar aur brahmaadi ko namaskaar kar poorv ya uttar mukh baithein. iske baad jal, fal, kush aur gandh lekar sankalp karein-

mamakhilpaapaprashamanapoorvak sarvaabheesht siddhaye
shreekrushn janmaashtami vratamahan karishye.

ab madhyaahn ke samay kaale tilon ke jal se snaan kar devakeeji ke liye 'sootikaagruh' niyat karein. tatpashchaat Bhagwan shreekrushn ki moorti ya chitr sthaapit karein. moorti mein baalak shreekrushn ko stanapaan karaati hui devaki hon aur lakshmeeji unke charan sparsh kiye hon athva aise bhaav ho. iske baad vidhi-vidhaan se poojan karein. poojan mein devaki, vasudev, baladev, nand, yashoda aur lakshmi in sabka naam kramash: nirdisht karna chaahiye.

fir nimn mantra se pushpaanjali arpan karein- 'praname Dave janani tvaya jaatastu vaaman:.
vasudevaat tatha krushno namastubhyan namo nam:.
suputraarghyan pradattan mein gruhaaneman namoऽstu te.'

ant mein prasaad vitran kar bhajan-keertan karte hue ratajaga karein.

uddeshya

jo vyakti janmaashtami ke vrat ko karta hai, vah aishvarya aur mukti ko praapt karta hai. aayu, keerti, yash, laabh, putr va pautr ko praapt kar isi janm mein sabhi prakaar ke sukhon ko bhog kar ant mein moksh ko praapt karta hai. jo manushya bhaktibhaav se shreekrushn ki katha ko sunate hain, unke samast paap nasht ho jaate hain. ve uttam gati ko praapt karte hain.
