mangol bhaasha mein 'il-Khan' ka matlab tha 'sarvochch Khan ke adheen wala Khan' aur is saamraajya ke shuroo mein ise mahaan mangol saamraajya ke adheen ek hissa maana jaata tha.[4] 'ilakhaan' mein 'kh' akshar ke uchchaaran par dhyaan dein kyonki yeh bina bindu vaale 'kh' se jra bhinn hai. iska uchchaaran 'khraab' aur 'khreed' ke 'kh' se milta hai.
