chatani ka arth hota hai do ya usase adhik cheejon ka mishran. aam bolachaal mein chatani ya khichdi shabd ka istemaal vaisi cheejon ke liye kiya jaata hai jismein aanupaatik maatra ka koi khaas khayaal naheen rakha jaata.

chatani mool roop se Bhaarat ka saus hai jo mool roop se hari mirch aur namak se bani hoti hai aur iske atirikt ismein khuli prayog ki chhoot li ja sakti hai. jyaadaatar chataniyon ke banaane mein hari mirch aur namak ke alaava apne pasand ki kisi bhi khaas sabji ko chuna ja sakta hai. jyaadaatar sabjiyon ki chataniyaaain yooain to kachchi sabji ko sil-batte par peesakar ya bleindar mein bleind kar ke banaayi ja sakti hain lekin kisi kisi falon ki chatani banaate samay unhein pakaane ki jaroorat pad sakti hai.

chatani banaate samay jin mukhya masaalon ka istemaal kiya jaata hai unamein namak, adarakh saunf, heeng, jeera ityaadi pramukh hain.

apne mool sthaan (Bhaarat) tatha padosi deshon mein chatani ko khaane se pehle taaja taiyaar kiya jaata hai jo aasaani se upalabdh ya mausami cheejon se turat furat taiyaar ki jaati hai. amareeka aur Europe ke deshon mein chatani ko mukhya roop se chatani ko frojen rakhakar lambe samay tak istemaal kiya jaata hai.
