baudhaayan Bhaarat ke praacheen ganitjnya aur shulb sootr tatha shrautasootr ke rachayita tha.

jyaamiti ke vishay mein pramaanik maanate hue saare vishv mein yooklid ki hi jyaamiti padhaai jaati hai. magar yeh smaran rakhana chaahiye ki mahaan yoonaani jyaamitishaastri yooklid se poorv hi Bhaarat mein kai rekhaaganitjnya jyaamiti ke mahatvapoorn niyamon ki khoj kar chuke the, un rekhaaganitjnyaon mein baudhaayan ka naam sarvopari hai. us samay Bhaarat mein rekhaaganit ya jyaamiti ko shulv shaastr kaha jaata tha. "baudhaayan" tatha "baudhaayaneeya" shabdon ke liye "bodhaayan" ya "bodhaayaneeya" ka prayog dakshin Bhaarat mein bahudha kiya jaata hai. parantu sanbhavat: yeh galat hai kyonki -ayan shabd ke prayog mein pehle varn ka svar deergh ho jaata hai.[1] jaise- "dvaipaayan", jo "dweep" va "ayan" par vibhinn vyaakaraneeya niyam lagaakar bana hai.
