baarahasinga ya daladal ka mrug (Rucervus duvaucelii) hirn, ya harin, ya hiran ki ek jaati hai jo ki uttari aur madhya Bhaarat mein, dakshini-pashchim Nepal mein paaya jaata hai. yeh Pakistan tatha Bangladesh mein vilupt ho gaya hai.[2]
baarahasinga ka sabse vilkshan ang hai uske seeng. vayask nar mein iski seeng ki 10-14 shaakhaaeain hoti hain, haalaanki kuchh ki to 20 tak ki shaakhaaeain paayi gayi hain. iska naam inhi shaakhaaon ki vajah se pada hai jiska arth hota hai baarah seeng wala.[3] madhya Bhaarat mein ise goinjak (nar) ya gaaoni (maada) kehte hain.

vayask nar kandhe tak 132 se.mi. tak ho sakta hai aur iska vajn 170-180 ki. tak ho sakta hai. ausatan seeng ki lanbaai ghumaav ke saath 75 se.mi. aur seengon ke beech ki paridhi 13 se.mi. tak hoti hai. seengon ki record lanbaai 104.1 se.mi. dekhi gayi hai.[3]

baarahasinga ganga ke maidaan mein bahutaayat mein paaya jaata tha. vah madhya Bhaarat mein bhi godaavari nadi tak paaya jaata tha. Gujarat mein iske 1,000 varsh poorv ke avashesh mile hain. aaj yeh apne aavaaseeya kshetr ke pashchimi paridhi se vilupt ho gaya hai. san 2008 E. mein iski jangali aabaadi 3,500 se 5,100 aanki gayi hai, jinmein se bahut praani surakshit kshetron ke baahar asurakshit avastha mein rahate hain.[2]
taraai ilaake mein yeh daladaleeya kshetr mein rahata hai aur madhya Bhaarat mein yeh vanon ke sameep ke ghaas ke maidaanon mein rahata hai.[3]
uttar poorvi Bhaarat mein yeh asam mein paaya jaata hai,[4] jahaaain mukhyat: kaajeeranga raashtreeya udyaan mein paaya jaata hai, haalaanki kuchh aabaadi maanas raashtreeya udyaan mein bhi paayi jaati hai.[5][6][7] arunaachal pradesh mein shaayad yeh vilupt ho gaya hai.[8]
pehle do bhaugolik varg pahachaane jaate the. duvauchaili—ajo ki manoneet varg hai— uttar pradesh ke taraai kshetr, asam tatha sundaravan ke daladaleeya ilaake mein rahata hai. is varg ke faile huye khur hote hain aur khopadi bhi thodi badi hoti hai. braindairi madhya Bhaarat, pramukhat: madhya pradesh ke thos maidaani ilaakon mein paaya jaata hai.[3] baad mein asam ke varg ko ranjeetasinhi naam diya gaya.[9] yahi varg sabse zyaada khtare mein hai.
madhya Bhaarat mein yeh kaanha raashtreeya udyaan ke alaava baaki saare kshetr se lupt ho gaya hai. yahaaain par bhi san 1950 E. ki 3,000 ki aabaadi se ghat kar keval ek dashak mein yeh 100 tak rah gayi thi. san 1970 E. mein yeh sirf 66 rah gayi thi.[10]

madhya Bhaarat mein inke 8-20 ke jhund hote hain, lekin 60 praaniyon ke jhund bhi paaye jaate hain. jhundon mein maadaaon ki saङakhya naron se duguni hoti hai. prajanan kaal mein yeh vayaskon ke bade jhund banaate hain. prajanan kaal sitmbar se April tak chalta hai aur 240-250 dinon ke garbh kaal ke pashchaat shaavakon ka janm August se November mein hota hai. kaanha raashtreeya udyaan mein sitmbar-October mein sabse zyaada janm hote hain.[11]
yeh savere aur shaam ko adhik khaana pasand karta hai tatha saanbhar se kam nishaachar hota hai. bhayabheet hone par yeh teekhe svar mein chillaata hai.[3]
yeh ek samay mein ek hi shaavak ko janm deta hai. bandi avastha mein yeh 23 varsh tak jeevit paaya gaya hai.
