RLV-TD sanchaalit krooj udaan, haaiparasaunik udaan, aur svaayatt (otonaumas) lainding, vaayu shvasan pranodan (air breeding prapalashan) jaise vibhinn praudyogikiyon ka moolyaankan karne ke roop mein kaarya karega . in praudyogikiyon ke prayog se launch laagat mein kaafi kami aaegi.[4]

vartamaan mein aise space shatal banaane vaale deshon mein sirf America, roos, France aur Japan hain. cheen ne is prakaar ka koi prayaas naheen kiya hai.[6]

yeh punarpayogi yaan (baar-baar prayog kiya ja sakane wala) poori tarah se Bhaarat mein bana hai.[6] yeh yaan antariksh yaan ko kaksha mein chhodkar ek vaayuyaan ki tarah vaapas aane laayak banaaya gaya hai.[6] ek sport yootiliti yaan (SUV) jaisa dikhne wala yeh space shatal apne asli aakaar se chhah guna chhota hai. pareekshan ke baad isko poori tarah se taiyaar karne mein 10 se 15 saal lag sakte hain.[6]

varsh 2006 mein, bhaarateeya antariksh anusandhaan sangathan ne maik 6 ki inalet ke saath lagbhag 7 second ke liye sthir suparasonik kambashan pradarshit karne ke liye jameen pareekshanon ki ek shrrunkhala ko anjaam diya. [11]

March 2010 mein, isaro ne apne nae rocket ki udaan pareekshan ka aayojan kiya. unnat praudyogiki vaahan ( advance technology yaan, eteevi-D01), lift ke samay 3 tan vajani, 0.56 meter ke vyaas, aur ~ 10 meter lanbaai ka rocket, vaayu shvaasan pranodan praudyogiki (air breeding kambashan technology) ke pradarshan ke liye pareekshan aadhaar roop mein ek paisiv skremajet engine kambastar maudyool ko le gaya.[12]

ise Andhra pradesh ke shreeharikota sthit sateesh dhavan antariksh kendra se subah 7 baje (IST) launch kiya gaya.[6] RLV-TD ki yeh udaan haaiparasonik pareekshan udaan thi. iski speed 5 maik (aavaaj se 5 guna jyaada) thi. iske dvaara shatal ko antariksh mein 70 kimi oopar le jaaya gaya. shatal ko sthaapit kar yaan 180 degree mudkar vaapas aa gaya. [6] ye RLV-TD ko 70 kimi tak le gayi. iske baad ise Bengal ki khaadi mein iski sthiti ka pata kara liya gaya va jahaajon, upagrahon aur raadaar se is par najar rakhi gayi.[6]

dhvani ki gati se 5 guna jyaada gati hone ke kaaran lainding ke liye 5 kimi se lamba runway jaroori tha. isliye ise jameen par naheen utaara gaya. pehli baar shatal ko launch karne ke baad yaan ko Bengal ki khaadi mein samudra tat se 500 kimi door bane varchual runway par lautaane ka faisala kiya gaya. is maadhyam se upagrah ko kaksha mein sthaapit karne ki keemat 2000 dollar/kilo (1.32 lakh/kilo) tak kam ho jaaegi. is yaan ko maanav abhiyaan mein bhavishya mein istemaal kiya jaayega.[6]
