Mathura, Bhagwan Krishna ki janmasthali aur Bhaarat ki param praacheen tatha jagad-vikhyaat nagari hai. shoorasen desh ki yahaaain rajdhani thi. pauraanik saahitya mein Mathura ko anek naamon se sambodhit kiya gaya hai jaise- shoorasen nagari, madhupuri, madhunagari, madhura aadi. bhaaratavarsh ka vah bhaag jo himaalaya aur vindhyaachal ke beech mein padta hai, praacheenakaal mein aaryaavart kahalaata tha. yahaaain par panapi hui bhaarateeya sanskruti ko jin dhaaraaon ne seencha ve ganga aur yamuna ki dhaaraaen theen. inheen donon nadiyon ke kinaare bhaarateeya sanskruti ke kai kendra bane aur viksit hue. vaalmeeki raamaayan mein Mathura ko madhupur ya madhudaanav ka nagar kaha gaya hai tatha yahaaain lavanaasur ki rajdhani bataai gayi hai-[46] is nagari ko is prasang mein madhudaitya dvaara basaai, bataaya gaya hai. lavanaasur, jisko shatrughn ne yuddh mein haraakar maara tha isi madhudaanav ka putr tha.[47] isse madhupuri ya Mathura ka raamaayan-kaal mein basaaya jaana soochit hota hai. raamaayan mein is nagari ki samruddhi ka varnan hai.[48] is nagari ko lavanaasur ne bhi sajaaya sanvaara tha. Mathura ke chaaron or chaar Shiv mandir hain- poorv mein pipleshvar ka, dakshin mein rangeshvar ka aur uttar mein gokarneshvar ka aur pashchim mein bhooteshvar mahaadev ka mandir hai. chaaron dishaaon mein sthit hone ke kaaran shivji ko Mathura ka kotavaal kehte hain. Mathura ko aadi vaaraah bhooteshvar kshetr ke naam se bhi jaana jaata hai. vaaraah ji ki gali mein neelavaarah aur shvetavaaraah ke sundar vishaal mandir hain. shreekrushn ke prapautr vajranaabh ne shri keshavadevaji ki moorti sthaapit ki thi par aurangajeb ke kaal mein vah rajadhaam mein padhara di gayi va aurangajeb ne mandir ko tod daala aur uske sthaan par masjid khadi kar di. baad mein us masjid ke peechhe naya keshavadevaji ka mandir ban gaya hai. praacheen keshav mandir ke sthaan ko keshavakatara kehte hain. khudaai hone se yahaaain bahut si aitihaasik vastueain praapt hui theen.

paas hi ek kankaali teele par kankaaleedevi ka mandir hai. kankaali teele mein bhi anek vastueain praapt hui theen. yeh kankaali vah batalaai jaati hai, jise devaki ki kanya samajhakar kans ne maarana chaaha tha par vo uske haath se chhootakar aakaash mein chali gayi thi. raamajeedvaare mein shri raamaji ka mandir hai, vaheen ashtabhuji shri gopaalaji ki moorti hai, jismein chaubees avataaron ke darshan hote hain. yahaaain raamanavami ko mela hota hai. yahaaain par vajranaabh ke sthaapit kiye hue dhruvaji ke charanachihn hain. chaubachcha mein veer bhadreshvar ka mandir, lavanaasur ko maarkar Mathura ki raksha karne vaale shatrughnaji ka mandir, holi darvaaje par daaooji ka mandir, dori baajaar mein gopeenaathaji ka mandir hai.

aage chalakar deergh vishnuji ka mandir, bangaali ghaat par shri vallabh kul ke Goswami parivaaron ke bade-chhote do madanamohanaji ke aur ek gokulesh ka mandir hai. nagar ke baahar dhruvaji ka mandir, gaoo ghaat par praacheen vishnusvaami sampradaaya ka shri raadhaavihaareeji ka mandir, vairaagapura mein praacheen vishnusvaami sampradaaya ke virkton ka mandir hai. vairaagapura mein gohil chhipi jaati ke chaaudhari shri gordhanadaas naagar putr shri harakaran das naagar ne sakal panch Mathura ko samvat 1981 (san 1924) me mandir banaane ke hetu apanai bhumi daan me dai. aur us bhumi ke upar daauji maahaaraj aur revati devi ki murti padhaar krr mandir daan kar diya. isse aage Mathura ke pashchim mein ek oonche teel par mahaavidya ka mandir hai, uske neeche ek sundar kund tatha pashupati mahaadev ka mandir hai, jiske neeche sarasvati naala hai. kisi samay yahaaain sarasvateeji bahti theen aur gokarneshvar-mahaadev ke paas aakar yamunaaji mein milti theen.

ek prasang mein yeh varnan hai ki ek sarp nandabaaba ko raatri mein niglane laga, tab shreekrushn ne sarp ko laat maari, jis par sarp shareer chhodkar sudarshan vidyaadhar ho gaya. kinheen-kinheen teekaakaaron ka mat hai ki yeh leela inheen mahaavidya ki hai aur kinheen-kinheen ka mat hai ki ambikaavan dakshin mein hai. isse aage sarasvati kund aur sarasvati ka mandir aur usase aage chaamunda ka mandir hai.

pratyek ekaadashi aur Akshay navami ko Mathura ki parikrama hoti hai. devashayani aur devotthaapani ekaadashi ko Mathura-garud govind-vrundaavan ki ek saath parikrama ki jaati hai|yeh parikrma 21 kosi ya teen van ki bhi kahi jaati hai| vaishaakh shukl poornima ko raatri mein parikrama ki jaati hai, jise vanavihaar ki parikrama kehte hain.

vishraam ghaat, yamuna, Mathura

sthaan-sthaan mein gaane-bajaane ka tatha padaakanda naatak ka bhi prabandh rahata hai. shri daaooji ne dvaaraka se aakar, vasant ritu ke do maas vraj mein bitaakar jo vanavihaar kiya tha tatha us samay yamunaaji ko kheencha tha, yeh parikrama usi ki smruti hai.

saptapuriyon mein Mathura

bhaaratavarsh ke saanskrutik aur aadhaatmik gaurav ki aadhaarashilaaain iski saat mahaapuriyaan hain. 'garudapuraan' mein inke naam is kram se varnit hain-

inmein Mathura ka sthaan ayodhya ke pashchaat anya puriyon ke pahile rakha gaya hai. padam puraan mein Mathura ka mahatva sarvopari maanate hue kaha gaya hai ki yadyapi kaashi aadi sabhi puriyaaain moksh daayini hai tathaapi mathuraapuri dhanya hai. yeh puri devataaon ke liye bhi durlabh hai. 2 isi ka samarthan 'gargasanhita' mein karte hue batalaaya gaya hai ki puriyon ki raani krushnaapuri Mathura brujeshvari hai, teertheshvari hai, yagya taponidhiyon ki ishvari hai yeh moksh pradaayini dharmapuri Mathura namaskaar yogya hai.

braj ka praacheen sangeet

braj ke praacheen sangeetajnyaon ki praamaanik jaankaari 16veen shataabdi ke bhaktikaal se milti hai. is kaal mein anekon sangeetajnya vaishnav sant hue. sangeet shiromani svaami haridaas ji, inke guru aashudheer ji tatha unke shishya taanasen aadi ka naam sarvavidit hai. baijoobaavara ke guru bhi shri haridaas ji kahe jaate hain, kintu baijoo baavara ne ashtachhaap ke kavi sangeetajnya govind svaami ji se hi sangeet ka abhyaas kiya tha. nimbaark sampradaaya ke shreebhatt ji isi kaal mein bhakt, kavi aur sangeetajnya hue. ashtachhaap ke mahaasangeetajnya kavi sooradaas, nandadaas, paramaanandadaas ji aadi bhi isi kaal mein prasiddh keertanakaar, kavi aur gaayak hue, jinke keertan ballabhakul ke mandiron mein gaaye jaate hain. svaami haridaas ji ne hi vastut: braj–sangeet ke dhrupad–dhamaar ki gaayaki aur raas–nrutya ki parampara chalaai.

sangeet

Mathura mein sangeet ka prachalan bahut puraana hai, baansuri braj ka pramukh vaadya yantr hai. Bhagwan shreekrushn ki baansuri ko jan–jan jaanta hai aur isi ko lekar unhein 'muraleedhar' aur 'vansheedhar' aadi naamon se pukaara jaata hai. vartamaan mein bhi braj ke lok sangeet mein dhol mrudang, jhaanjh, manjeera, dhap, nagaada, pakhaavaj, ekataara aadi vaadya yantron ka prachalan hai. 16 veen shati se Mathura mein raas ke vartamaan roop ka praarambh hua. yahaaain sabse pehle ballabhaachaarya ji ne svaami haradev ke sahayog se vishraant ghaat par raas kiya. raas braj ki anokhi den hai, jismein sangeet ke geet gadya tatha nrutya ka samishran hai. braj ke saahitya ke saanskrutik evam kalaatmak jeevan ko raas badi sundarata se abhivyakt karta hai. ashtachhaap ke kaviyon ke samay braj mein sangeet ki madhuradhaara pravaahit hui. sooradaas, nandadaas, krushnadaas aadi swayam gaayak the. in kaviyon ne apni rachanaaon mein vividh prakaar ke geeton ka apaar bhandaar bhar diya. svaami haridaas sangeet shaastr ke prakaand aachaarya evam gaayak the. taanasen jaise prasiddh sangeetajnya bhi unke shishya the. samraat Akbar bhi svaami ji ke madhur sangeet- geeton ko sunane ka lobh sanvaran na kar saka aur iske liye bhesh badalkar unhein sunane vrundaavan aaya karta tha. braj mein anekaanek gaayan shailiyaan prachalit hain aur rasiya braj ki praacheenatam gaayaki kala hai. Bhagwan shreekrushn ki baal leelaaon se sambandhit pad, rasiya aadi gaayaki ke saath raasaleela ka aayojan hota hai. shraavan maas mein mahilaaon dvaara jhoola jhoolate samay gaayi jaane waali malhaar gaayaki ka praadurbhaav braj se hi hai. lokasangeet mein rasiya, dhola, aalha, laavani, chaubola, bahal–tabeel, bhagat aadi sangeet bhi samay –samay par sunane ko milta hai. iske atirikt ritu geet, ghareloo geet, saanskrutik geet samay–samay par vibhinn vargon mein gaaye jaate hain.

kala

yahaaain sthaapatya tatha moorti kala ke vikaas ka sabse mahattvapoorn yug kushaan kaal ke praarambh se gupt kaal ke ant tak raha. yadyapi iske baad bhi ye kalaayein 12veen shati ke ant tak jaari raheen. iske baad lagbhag 350 varshon tak Mathura kala ka pravaah avarooddh raha, par 16veen shati se kala ka punarootthaan saahitya, sangeet tatha chitrakala ke roop mein dikhaai padne lagta hai.

Agra se maatr 55 kilometer tatha khair se maatr 50 kilometer hai . vrundaavan pahuchane ke liye yeh vrundaavan ki vebasaait kaafi soochana deti he| station ke aaspaas kai hotel hain aur vishraam ghaat ke aaspaas kai kamakharch waali dharmashaalaaen rookane ke liye upalabdh hain. ghoomane ke liye teksi kar sakte hain, jisse Mathura, vrundaavan ek din mein ghooma ja sakta hai. adhiktar mandiron mein darshan subah 12 baje tak aur saanya 4 se 6-7 baje tak khulate hain, darshanaarthiyon ko isi hisaab se apna kaaryakram banaana chaahiye. auto aur taange bhi upalabdh hai. yamuna mein nauka vihaar aur praat:kaal aur saanyakaal mein vishraam ghaat par hone waali yamuna ji ki aarti darshaneeya hai. gokul ki or jaane ke liye aadha din aur lagega, uske baad govardhan ke liye nikal sakte hain. govardhan ke liye bas se upalabdh hai. raadhaashtami ka utsav vrundaavan me dhoom se manaaya jaata he |

holi

shreekrushn raadha aur gopiyon–gvaalon ke beech ki holi ke roop mein gulaal, rang kesar ki pichkaari se khoob khelte hain. holi ka aarambh faalgun shukl 9 barasaana se hota hai. vahaan ki laththamaar holi holi jag prasiddh hai. dasveen ko aisi hi holi nandagaanv mein hoti hai. isi ke saath poore braj mein holi ki dhoom machati hai. dhooleindi ko praaya: holi poorn ho jaati hai, iske baad hurange chalte hain, jinmein mahilaayein rangon ke saath laathiyon, kodon aadi se purushon ko gherati hain. barasaana aur nandagaaainv ki lathamaar holi to jagaprasiddh hai. 'nandagaaainv ke kuainvar kanhaiya, barasaane ki gori re rasiya' aur 'barasaane mein I jaiyo bulaae gayi raadha pyaari' geeton ke saath hi braj ki holi ki masti shuroo hoti hai. vaise to holi poore Bhaarat mein manaai jaati hai lekin braj ki holi khaas masti bhari hoti hai. vajah ye ki ise Krishna aur raadha ke prem se jod kar dekha jaata hai. uttar Bhaarat ke braj kshetr mein basant panchami se hi holi ka chaalees divseeya utsav aarambh ho jaata hai. nandagaaainv evam barasaane se hi holi ki vishesh umang jaagrat hoti hai. jab nandagaaainv ke gop gopiyon par rang daalte, to nandagaanv ki gopiyaan unhein aisa karanese rokati theen aur na maananepar laathi maarana shuroo karti theen. holi ki toliyon mein nandagaaainv ke purush hote hain, kyonki Krishna yaheen ke the aur barasaane ki mahilaaen, kyonki raadha barasaane ki theen. dilchasp baat ye hoti hai ki ye holi baaki Bhaarat mein kheli jaane waali holi se pehle kheli jaati hai. din shuroo hote hi nandagaaainv ke huriyaaron ki toliyaaain barasaane pahuainchane lagti hain. saath hi pahuainchane lagti hain keertan mandaliyaaain. is dauraan bhaaaing-thandhai ka khoob intajaam hota hai. brajavaasi logon ki chiraunta jaisi aakhon ko dekhkar bhaaaing thandhai ki vyavastha ka andaaj laga lete hain. barasaane mein tesoo ke foolon ke bhagone taiyaar rahate hain. dopahar tak ghamaasaan lathamaar holi ka samaaain bandh chuka hota hai. nandagaaainv ke logon ke haath mein pichkaariyaaain hoti hain aur barasaane ki mahilaaon ke haath mein laathiyaaain aur shuroo ho jaati hai holi.

Mathura sangrahaalaya [1] mein Mathura shaili ki kalaakrutiyaaain

Mathura ka vishaal moortikla sangrah desh ke aur videsh ke anek sangrahaalayon mein vitrit ho chuka hai. yahaaain ki saamagri Lucknow ke raajya sangrahaalaya mein, Calcutta ke bhaarateeya sangrahaalaya mein, mumbai aur Varanasi ke sangrahaalayon mein tatha videshon mein mukhyat: America ke 'Boston' sangrahaalaya mein, 'peris' va 'jyoorich' ke sangrahaalayon va landan ke british sangrahaalaya mein pradarshit hai. parantu iska sabse bada bhaag Mathura sangrahaalaya mein pradarshit hai. iske atirikt katipya vyaktigat sangrahon mein bhi Mathura ki kalaakrutiyaaain hain.

Mathura ka sangrahaalaya yahaaain ke tatkaaleen jilaadheesh ef. S. graauj dvaara san 1874 mein sthaapit kiya gaya tha. praarambh mein yeh sangrahaalaya sthaaneeya tahaseel ke paas ek chhote bhavan mein rakha gaya tha. praarambh mein yeh sangrahaalaya sthaaneeya tahaseel ke paas ek chhote bhavan mein rakha gaya tha. kuchh parivrtanon ke baad san 1900 mein sangrahaalaya ka prabandh nagarapaalika ke haath mein diya gaya. iske paaainch varsh pashchaat tatkaaleen puraatatv adhikaari dau॰ J. pi. H. fogal ke dvaara is sangrahaalaya ki moortiyon ka vargeekaran kiya gaya aur san 1910 mein ek vistrut soochi prakaashit ki gayi. is kaarya se sangrahaalaya ka mahatva shaasan ki drushti mein badh gaya aur san 1912 mein iska saara prabandh raajya sarkaar ne apne haath mein le liya.

Mathura sangrahaalaya mein Bhagwan buddh ki pratima

san 1908 se raayabahaadur pan॰ raadhaakrushn yahaaain ke pratham sahaayak sangrahaadhyaksh ke rup mein niyukt hue, baad mein ve avaitanik sangrahaadhyaksh ho gaye. ab sangrahaalaya ki unnati hone lagi, jismein tatkaaleen puraatatv nideshak sar John maarshal aur raayabahaadur dayaaraam saahani ka bahut bada haath tha. san 1929 mein pradesheeya shaasan ne ek lakh chhattees hajaar rupaye lagaakar sthaaneeya deinmpeeyar park mein sangrahaalaya ka sammukh bhaag nirmit karaaya aur san 1930 mein yeh janta ke liye khola gaya. iske pashchaat british shaasanaantargat yahaaain koi naveen parivartan naheen hua.
